Navigate to the customer
By the end of this article you’ll know every way the app hands you off to your maps app and your phone, and how to shape the route it sends you on.
The app doesn’t do the driving. It hands the address to the maps app your phone already has — Apple Maps on an iPhone, Google Maps on Android — and stays exactly where it was when you come back.
Drive to one job
- On Work, the Next card at the top is your next stop. Tap Navigate.
- Or open any job and tap Drive in the bar at the bottom.
- Your maps app opens with the address searched, ready for directions. The address is a street address, not a pin, so a customer’s home is found the same way you’d type it in yourself.
Drive is grayed on a job with no address. Ask the office to add one.
Send the whole day
When two or more stops are still ahead of you, Open full route sits under the My day card on Work.
- On Android it opens Google Maps with the remaining stops as waypoints, in route order, up to ten stops at once — a longer day sends the first ten.
- On an iPhone, Apple Maps can’t take a chain of stops, so it opens directions to your next stop instead. Use Navigate or Drive for the ones after.
Stops you’ve completed or skipped are left out, so the route always starts from where you are.
Call or text
Call and Text are in the same bar as Drive. They open your phone’s dialer or messages with the customer’s number filled in; nothing is sent until you do. Both are grayed when the customer has no phone number on file.
To tell the customer you’re coming without a call, use Let the customer know I’m on my way on the job page — one tap, works offline. See Start, pause and complete a job.
Where the route starts
Route setup at the bottom of Work is collapsed until you tap it. The Route start card shows where today’s route begins:
- Your default is set under You → Route start and applies every day. The card says Starting from Home — your default.
- To start somewhere else today only, tap Home, Office or Current — where you’re standing, using your location. The card says Overriding today: starting from Current. with an Override badge.
- Use my default puts today back.
Changing the start reorders the route on the office’s side, so it needs signal. If your location can’t be read the card says why — access declined, location services off, or it took too long — and offers Home or Office instead.
What order the stops run in
The Route order card has two settings. Scheduled follows appointment times. Optimized finds the fastest path between the addresses, which can put a later booking before an earlier one. When that happens, the job’s row on Work says booked 11:30 AM · out of order — the customer was told 11:30, so call ahead or take that stop first.
Optimized is part of some plans and not others; if yours doesn’t have it the card says so. Like the start point, it needs signal.
Good to know
- The address is on your phone, so Drive and Navigate open the maps app offline — the maps app then needs whatever it needs for directions.
- The Vehicle and Mileage cards in Route setup work offline. Route start and Route order don’t.
- Navigate on the Next card and Drive on the job page go to the same place; the card is just closer to hand when you’re between stops.
