Leave a review, or opt out of review requests

When a job is finished you can rate it — from the booking in the portal, or from the email or text the business sends you. This article shows you how, what happens to your review, and how to stop the review emails if you would rather not get them.

Leave a review from a booking

  1. Sign in and choose My Bookings in the menu.
  2. Open the Past tab and choose the booking. A finished job shows How was your service? with a Leave a Review button; if you have already rated it, the page shows Your rating instead.
  3. Choose Leave a Review. Pick a number of stars under How would you rate your service? — five is selected to start — and add anything you want to say under Comments (optional).
  4. Choose Submit Review. The page confirms Thank you for your review! and shows your stars and comment under Your rating.

Leave a review from the email or text

The business may email you How did we do? — {business} a day or so after the visit (an hour, or two days, if that is what the business chose), with a Leave a review button. The “your car is ready” text carries a link too. Either opens the finished job without signing in, with the same Leave a Review button and the same steps as above. See The link in your text or email for what that link shows and when it expires.

What happens to your review

  • The business sees it straight away, with your name as they have it on file.
  • If the business shows reviews on its booking page, yours may appear there under What Our Customers Say, and the business may post a reply beneath it. Reviews below a star level the business sets are kept private, and the business can choose not to show one; the score on that page still counts every review, shown or not.
  • Some businesses send a second email after a good rating — Thank you for your feedback! — with a Review us on Google, Review us on Yelp or Review us on Facebook button. It is optional, and not every review gets one.

Opt out of review emails

  1. Open the How did we do? email, or the Thank you for your feedback! one. At the bottom: If you’d rather not receive these invitations, you can opt out.
  2. Choose Opt out.
  3. The portal opens on a page that says You’ve been unsubscribed and You will no longer receive review invitations from this business. It took effect before the page opened.

That stops both emails — the request to rate a job and the invitation to Google, Yelp or Facebook — from that business. It does not stop confirmations, reminders, receipts or invoices, and you can still rate any finished job yourself from the booking. Changed your mind? Ask the business: they can switch the invitations back on for you, as the page says — Changed your mind? Just contact the business and they can re-enable invitations for you.

Good to know

  • One review per job, and it can be left for three months after the service. After that the button is gone and the page simply shows the job; trying from an old link says Reviews must be submitted within 3 months of the service date.
  • You cannot edit or remove a review from the portal. If something in it is wrong, contact the business.
  • The request to rate a job comes by email only, and only from businesses that have it switched on, so it is normal not to receive one. No text ever asks you for a review; the “your car is ready” text simply opens the job, where the button is.
  • Whether a review email reaches you also depends on the business having your email on file; see Your account details and language.
