Add-ons and how they appear at booking

By the end of this article you will know what the Is Add-on Service switch does, and where an add-on looks different from any other service.

An add-on is a service that is sold on top of another one — pet hair removal on top of an interior detail, a headlight restoration on top of a wash. Your starter catalog already marks several this way. The switch is a label: it tells your team and your customers how the service is meant to be sold. It does not change how the service is priced, timed or paid.

Mark a service as an add-on

  1. Open CatalogServices and open the service.
  2. Under Pricing, switch on Is Add-on Service.
  3. Click Update Service.

Where the label shows

  • In your catalog. The service card and the table row carry an Add-on chip, so you can tell the extras from the main services at a glance.
  • On the technician’s phone. When a technician builds a job or writes an invoice on the phone, the service list and the lines they have added show an Add-on badge next to the name.
  • On a quote your customer approves online. Each add-on line reads Add-on after its name, so the customer sees which items are extras before they accept.

What it does not do

  • Online booking lists add-ons with everything else. Your booking page shows one list of services, in Sort Order; there is no separate “extras” step, and nothing stops a customer booking an add-on on its own. If an add-on should only ever be booked with a main service, say so in its Description.
  • Pricing is unchanged. An add-on has a Base Price and can have its own price and duration per vehicle type like any service; see Create a service and price it by vehicle type.
  • Packages are unchanged. Whether a service can go into a package is the separate Available in packages switch, on or off regardless of the add-on label.

Good to know

  • Categories are the other way to group extras. The starter catalog files several of its extras under the category text Add-on; that category does not exist on the Categories page until you create it there. The label and the category are independent — use either or both.
  • The switch is on the web only. The phone shows the badge but does not set it.
