What the mobile app is

The mobile app is for the people who do the work. It runs on iOS and Android, shows a technician their day, and lets them get through each job — arrive, take photos, add a service, collect the payment — without going back to a computer. It is built to keep working in a parking garage or on a rural road: the day’s jobs and customers live on the phone, and changes sync when the signal comes back.

How it fits with the rest of Wax Stak

The app is one of three doors into the same account:

  • The back office (the web app) is where the business is run — bookings, billing, the team, reports.
  • The mobile app is where the work happens, on the technician’s phone.
  • The customer portal is where your customers book and pay online.

A job booked in the back office or by a customer online shows up on the technician’s phone. A payment collected on site shows up as paid in the back office. Nothing is typed twice.

The three tabs

The bar at the bottom has three tabs:

  • Work — the schedule for one day, with Today one tap away. Each job opens into its details; the + button starts a New job, New quote or New customer on the spot.
  • Find — search by name, plate, job or invoice across customers, vehicles, jobs, invoices and payments. It works with no signal, because it searches what is already on the phone.
  • You — your profile and the app’s housekeeping: Sync Now, anything that Needs review, Notifications, My Schedule, Your Devices, the Company you are signed in to, About and Sign Out.

Signing in

You sign in with the same email and password as the back office. If your email belongs to more than one business, the app asks which one you are working for. After that the app can lock itself when you put the phone down; unlock it with your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID and everything is where you left it — nothing was signed out.

Working without a signal

Most of a technician’s day works offline: opening jobs, reading customer notes, taking photos, creating a job or quote for a customer already on the phone, marking work done. Those changes queue on the phone and sync on their own when the connection is back; YouSync Now shows how many are pending.

A few things genuinely need a connection and the app says so rather than pretending:

  • Collecting a payment. A card payment is never queued offline. Once you are back online you can collect on the spot, or email the customer a payment link so they pay on their own device.
  • Sending a payment link or anything else that has to reach the customer right now.

Good to know

  • The app asks for location, camera and notification permissions when it first needs them — location for routes and mileage, the camera for photos and VIN scanning, notifications for new and changed jobs.
  • Lost a phone? Open YouYour Devices on any other device you are signed in on and remove it.
  • English and Spanish are both built in; the app follows your phone’s language.
