Build a package from services

By the end of this article you will have a package — several services, perhaps a product, one price — that your team can drop onto a job or a quote in one pick, and you will know how to turn one into a subscription plan.

Packages live on CatalogPackages & Plans. The page is titled Packages & Subscription Plans because a plan is a package with a schedule attached.

Build the package

  1. Click Add Package.
  2. Type a Name — the customer sees it — and a Description.
  3. Under Included services & products, click Add service and pick one; repeat, and use Add product for a consumable you include. Set the Qty on each line. A service that reads Not available in packages has Available in packages switched off on the service; turn it on there first.
  4. Choose a Discount: No discount, a Percentage, or a Fixed amount, and enter the Discount value. The package’s price is the sum of its lines minus the discount.
  5. Leave Cost override blank to let the cost come from the included items — the form shows Derived from items and the resulting Margin — or type your own. Leave Technician payout blank to pay the sum of the included services’ payouts, or type a flat amount; a package with no service pays nobody.
  6. Check the Customer preview at the bottom: the name, the price and how many items it includes, as a customer will read it.
  7. Click Create.

Sell it as a subscription

Switch on Sell this as a subscription and three fields appear: Service every (week, 2 weeks, month or quarter), Bill every (the same, plus year) and Price per service. The customer is billed on the repeating schedule instead of once, and the list marks the package Subscription rather than Bundle.

Subscription plans are a Pro and Business feature; on a Starter plan the switch is disabled and the form says so. Pro allows five live plans at once and Business has no cap; the app tells you when you reach it.

Use it

  • On a job or a quote, pick the package with Add package… at the bottom of the lines. Its services and products come in as lines of their own, each marked Package, so a technician sees exactly what to do.
  • As a subscription, open the customer, go to Subscriptions and enrol them in the plan.

Editing a package that is in use

Once a job or a subscription refers to a package, editing it does not change that job or that subscription: the app keeps the old version, marks it Archived, and creates a new active version with your changes. Switch on Show archived to see the old ones. This is why the list can hold several rows with one name.

Archive, restore or delete

The archive icon on a row retires a package without deleting it — it stops being offered, and a subscription plan stops counting against your cap. The same icon restores an archived one, if its services are still allowed in packages and, for a plan, if you have room under the cap. Delete removes the package from the catalog; customers already subscribed keep their subscription, as the confirmation says.

Good to know

  • Filters: search by name or description, Subscription plans only to see just the plans, and the count of live plans at the right.
  • Who can do this: owners, admins and managers edit packages; technicians, accounting and viewers see them read-only.
