The revenue report

By the end of this article you will know what every card on the revenue report is measuring and why two of them can disagree.

ReportsFinanceRevenue Report shows how your business earned over a period, with a trend, a split by service and your best customers. Paid plans add trends over time, technician productivity, payment methods and retention.

Choose the period

  1. Under Filters, set From and To. The report opens on the current month, and a range can be up to a year long.
  2. Group by Day, Week or Month decides how the trend is bucketed. Weeks start on the day set by Week starts on under SettingsCompanyCompany Info.
  3. The report reloads as you change a filter. Refresh reloads it with the same filters.

What the cards mean

  • Total Revenue is the money you earned in the period, recognized on your accounting basis — cash or accrual, whichever your business is set to. It is the same figure your profit and loss shows for the same dates.
  • Total Jobs counts every job scheduled in the period, whatever its status. Completed Jobs counts the ones that finished, with the completion percentage underneath.
  • Avg. Job Value is the value of completed jobs divided by their count.
  • Job value and revenue are different measures over different documents: a job can be completed and not yet invoiced, and an invoice can exist with no job behind it. Do not expect one to be derived from the other.

The sections

  • Revenue Trend — one bar per day, week or month, with the period total, the job count and an average per bucket, followed by a Detailed Breakdown table.
  • Revenue by Service — each service’s share of the period’s revenue. Rows such as Products, Discounts given, Refunds and Chargebacks are accounting buckets, not services; discounts, refunds and chargebacks reduce the total and can show as negative.
  • Top Customers — your five best customers for the period by recognized revenue, with the number of invoices behind each figure.

Good to know

  • Pro and Business add more. On the Starter plan the report shows Unlock Pro reporting with Upgrade to Pro in place of the sections below. Paid plans add Revenue Trends (line charts for revenue, job value, jobs and average ticket), Payment Methods (card, bank, cash and check), Technician Productivity (jobs, active days and job value per technician) and Customer Retention (return rate and the customers you have not seen in 90 days).
  • Review and training sections. On a paid plan the same page also carries Technician Review Analytics, Company Review Insights, the External Review Prompt Campaign, AI Training Plans — Technician, AI Training Plans — Company-Wide and the Employee Feedback Report. They read your reviews and your team’s feedback rather than your revenue, and this article does not cover them.
  • Retention does not follow the date range. Whether a customer came back is a lifetime question, so Customer Retention always shows today’s picture.
  • Who can see it. Anyone whose role can view reports — Admin, Accounting, Manager and Viewer. Technicians cannot open the Reports section.
  • Export. Export CSV downloads the trend and the by-service split for the period you are looking at, in the language the app is set to.
