Your devices, and signing out a lost phone
By the end of this article you can see every device signed in as you and sign out any of them from the phone in your hand — including one that is no longer in your hand.
See your devices
- Open the You tab and tap Your Devices.
- Under Active devices, each row is one signed-in device: what it is (iPhone, iPad, Android device, and so on) and Last active with how long ago it last talked to the server.
- The one you are holding is marked This device and sits at the top.
The list needs a connection. With no signal you will see Couldn’t load your devices. and a Try Again button — try again once you have a bar or two.
A computer you use for the back office on the web is in the list too, as Mac, Windows device or Linux device — it is the same account, so it is the same list. Removing one of those signs that browser out.
Sign out a lost or stolen phone
- From any other device you are signed in on — another phone, a tablet — open You → Your Devices.
- Find the missing one by its type and Last active time and tap Remove.
- The app asks Remove device? and explains: This signs the device out. It’ll need to sign in again to use the app. Tap Remove.
- Device removed. confirms it.
You cannot remove the device you are using from this list — that is what Sign Out on the You tab is for.
No other device? Ask your manager: an Admin can deactivate you from the back office, which ends every session at once, and switch you back on afterwards.
What happens on the removed device
Nothing visible right away. The next time that phone talks to the server — within a few minutes if it is online, or the moment it next finds a signal — it is signed out, its downloaded work is wiped from the phone, and whoever is holding it sees the sign-in screen with Your session ended. Please sign in again. Without your password they get nowhere.
Until that phone reaches the server it can still show what it had already downloaded. If the phone is in the wrong hands and you want to be sure, remove it here and change your password from the back office — Reset your password.
Anything on that phone that had not synced yet is lost with the wipe. That is the price of removing it, and it is the right trade for a phone you cannot get back.
Sign out all devices
Below the list, Sign out all devices ends every session at once — including the one you are on. The confirmation is blunt on purpose: Every device, including this one, will be signed out and its offline data removed. Any work that has not been sent yet will be lost. Sync first (You → Sync Now) if you can, then tap Sign out all. Use it when you have changed your password after a scare, or when you are not sure which device is which.
Good to know
- A device stays in the list for as long as it is signed in. Signing out from the device itself removes it here too.
- Last active is when the device last synced or opened the app, not when it was last unlocked.
- The app locks itself on a phone that is put down — see Lock screen: passcode and biometrics. A lost phone with a screen lock is hiding your work already; removing it here makes that permanent.
