Add services, add-ons and products to a job

By the end of this article you’ll know how to change what’s on a job from the driveway — the customer asked for a second coat, or decided against the interior — and what the office does with your change.

What’s on the job

Open the job from Work. The Services card lists every line the office has on it, each with its price: services, add-ons, the lines of a package (marked Package), and any products the office added. A line marked Estimate is one you added from the phone that the office hasn’t priced yet.

Change the services

  1. On the job, under Services, tap Edit services.
  2. The Edit services sheet opens with the job’s current services already selected. Tap the trash icon next to a line to take it off the job.
  3. Tap Add service or package and pick from your company’s catalog — services grouped by category, add-ons with an Add-on badge, packages with a Package badge. Each line is priced for the job’s vehicle. Repeat for everything you’re adding.
  4. Tap Save services. Cancel closes the sheet without changing anything.

The card now says Your change to the services is saved on this device and will be priced by the office when it syncs. and the new lines carry an Estimate badge. The change uploads automatically when you have signal, and the badges clear once the office’s prices come back.

Save services stays greyed until you’ve actually changed something, and a job can’t be saved with no services at all.

What the office keeps

Your change is a new list of services, not new prices. When it arrives:

  • A service you kept stays exactly as the office had it — its price, any discount, and whether it came from a package.
  • A service you added is priced from the office’s price list for the job’s vehicle.
  • A service you removed comes off the job.
  • The job’s total is worked out again.

If the office can’t take the change, the job goes back to the office’s version and the sync bar shows a badge with a change to review. Tap it to read why — for example A service you added needs a technician you’re not set up as, so the change wasn’t applied. The office’s version was kept. Then talk to the office.

Products are the office’s

The phone adds and removes services, add-ons and packages. It never touches products — the sealant tin, the replacement wiper — because the phone’s catalog has none to offer. Product lines the office put on the job stay on it through your edit; you’ll see them on the card, and you can’t change them here. If a product needs adding, ask the office.

When Edit services is offered

You’ll see the button when all of these hold:

  • you’re the technician leading the job — a helper on the job doesn’t get it
  • the job hasn’t been started yet
  • your role can edit jobs
  • the job already has at least one service on it

A job created from the phone with no work has no Services card, and so no button, until the office adds the first services. See Create a job directly (no quote).

Good to know

  • Once you’ve started the job, its services are fixed on the phone. Extra work the customer asks for mid-job goes to the office to add.
  • Adding an add-on works the same as adding a service — pick it from the catalog; it simply shows an Add-on badge.
  • The prices in the sheet are estimates from the price list your phone last synced. The office’s list decides the final figure, and the invoice follows the office’s prices for the final list.
