Reading the dashboard
By the end of this article you will know what every card on the Dashboard means, where each one takes you, and why a colleague’s dashboard may look different from yours.
Where it is
The Dashboard is the first page after you sign in and the first item in the left menu. The small question mark next to the welcome heading opens the help center article for the page you are on — most pages have one next to their title.
The cards, top to bottom
Welcome card. A greeting and the help link; nothing to do.
Getting Started. Only while your business is new: a checklist of what still needs setting up, with a count such as 2 of 6 complete. Each line is a link. It disappears when everything is done, or when you click Dismiss. See Set up a new business.
Start accepting card payments. Shown until payments are connected. Set up payments takes you to Billing → Payments; Dismiss hides the card.
Customize your services. Shown until you have edited the standard service catalog your business started with. Review services opens Catalog → Services.
The figures. Four cards with live numbers for your business:
- Total Customers — everyone under Customers.
- Active Jobs — jobs that are booked or in progress, not yet completed or cancelled.
- Pending Quotes — quotes sent and waiting for the customer’s answer.
- Revenue (MTD) — revenue from the first of this month to today, on the accounting basis your business uses (cash or accrual, set under Settings → Accounting). It is the same figure the Revenue Report shows for the month.
A grey placeholder in a card means the figure is still loading. A card that is missing altogether means your role does not include seeing that figure — see below.
Quick Actions. Four shortcuts to the pages you use most: New Quote, Schedule Job, Add Customer and View Reports. Each opens the same page the left menu would.
Why dashboards differ between people
Everyone on the team lands on the same Dashboard, but each card is shown only to people whose role allows the underlying page. A technician whose role does not include reports will not see Revenue (MTD); someone who cannot view quotes will not see Pending Quotes. Nothing is broken — the figure is simply not theirs to see. An owner or admin sets what each role can do under Team → Roles & Permissions.
Good to know
- The figures are for your business as a whole, not for one technician or one location.
- On the cash basis, an unpaid invoice is not revenue yet; on the accrual basis it is. The dashboard follows whichever your business chose.
- The dashboard is a starting point, not a report. For trends, comparisons and exports, use Reports in the left menu.
