Pause, resume or cancel a plan

Going away for two months, or done with the plan altogether — either way, the change starts from the plan’s card under My plans. This article covers the three buttons at the bottom of that card, what each one does, and the one case where a button is deliberately missing.

If you do not see the buttons

Whether you can pause or cancel a plan yourself is the business’s decision, and it is made separately for each: a detailer may let you pause but ask you to call about canceling, or handle both themselves. If the button you need is not on the card, the business handles that change for you — see Contact your detailer.

Pause a plan

  1. Choose Pause plan on the plan’s card.
  2. Read the confirmation — We’ll stop your visits and stop charging you until you resume. Nothing is lost — your plan and price stay exactly as they are. — and choose Pause my plan. Keep my plan closes it without pausing.

The status changes to Paused right away. No visits are scheduled and no payments are taken while it is paused, and the plan keeps its name, its price and everything it includes.

Resume a plan

On a paused plan the button reads Resume plan. Choose it and the plan is Active again — there is no confirmation to read. Payments pick up from the plan’s next payment date; if that date went by while the plan was paused, the next payment is taken shortly after you resume. Visits are scheduled again by the business.

A plan set up with a fixed end date that has already passed cannot be resumed; the business can set up a new one.

Cancel a plan

Canceling from the portal always runs to the end of the period you have already paid for — nothing stops the same day, and nothing is refunded. There are two steps:

  1. Choose Cancel plan. Under Before you cancel, the portal lists what you would lose — the services the plan includes — and says how long the plan would keep running: Your plan would keep running until …, then stop. From here you can choose Keep my plan, or, when the business allows pausing, Pause instead, which pauses the plan on the spot.
  2. Choose Continue to cancel. Under Why are you canceling? (optional) you can leave a note — it goes to the business, and nothing more is done with it. Choose Cancel my plan to confirm.

The plan stays Active on your card, now with a notice: This plan stops on …. You keep your service until then. Visits already planned before that date still happen; no further payment is taken. On that date the plan ends and leaves your list.

There is no undo button. If you change your mind before the stop date, contact the business — they can keep the plan running.

A plan that reads Payment needed

When the last payment did not go through, the plan reads Payment needed and Pause plan is not offered: pausing a plan with an unpaid period would leave that period hanging. Settle the payment first — Update the card that pays your plan explains how — and the button returns once the plan is Active again. Canceling is still available, and the unpaid period is still owed.

Good to know

  • Pausing and resuming are yours to do as often as you need; each one is recorded on the business’s side, so they always see the current state.
  • A note left when canceling is limited to 500 characters.
