Emails and texts you will receive
As a booking moves along, your detailer sends you emails — and, if you agreed to them, texts — through Wax Stak. This article lists what arrives and when, so you can tell a real message from a fake one. Which ones you get depends on the business; a small one may send only a handful.
Before the visit
- Appointment confirmed — {business} — an email as soon as a booking is made, with the date, time and place. If you ticked the box for texts when booking, a text says the same: Hi {your name}, your appointment with {business} is confirmed for {date} at {time}.
- Reminder: your appointment is … — {business} — the business decides when reminders go out; most send one the day before and one an hour before, some none. A reminder can also arrive as a text naming the service.
- Your {business} technician is on the way for your {service} — a text only, sent when the technician sets off. There is no email for this one.
On the day, and after
- {business}: your car is ready — a text when the job is done. When the business uses the portal it carries a link that opens the finished job without signing in; otherwise it names the service done. See The link in your text or email.
- Your photos are ready — {business} — an email when the technician took photos, with the pictures and a link to the booking (this one asks you to sign in). The pictures in the email stop loading after a week; the booking keeps them.
- How did we do? — {business} — an email asking you to rate the job, an hour, a day or two days after the visit as the business chose. Not every business sends it. See Leave a review, or opt out of review requests.
Quotes, invoices and payments
- Quote {number} from {business} — a quote to approve or decline.
- Invoice {number} from {business} — your invoice, with a Pay now button when there is a balance to pay online.
- Payment request from {business} — a link to pay a balance on your phone. It works for 48 hours.
- Payment received — {business} and Invoice {number} paid in full — {business} — your receipts, for a deposit or part payment and for the invoice being settled.
- Credit memo {number} from {business} and Statement of account — when the business credits you or sends a statement.
- Your card expires soon — 30 days, and again 7 days, before a card you keep on file for a plan runs out.
- We couldn’t process your payment and Payment failed — action required — when an automatic payment for a plan did not go through: the first says when it will be tried again, the second that the tries have stopped. Both carry an Update payment method button into the portal.
- Billing notification — {business} — when you are put on a plan.
Your account
- Your {business} customer portal — an invitation to the portal, sent by the business.
- Your {business} sign-in code — the six-digit code you asked for when signing in. It works for 10 minutes.
Which ones are texts
Only four things ever arrive as a text: the confirmation, a reminder, on the way and your car is ready. No text ever asks you to pay, to leave a review or to claim an offer — one that does did not come from Wax Stak. The “your car is ready” text only opens the finished job. Texts go to the mobile number the business has on file; for a booking you made in the portal, only if you ticked the box that begins Text me appointment confirmations, reminders, and service updates.
Stop texts, or start them again
- Reply STOP to any text. It takes effect at once and stops every text sent through Wax Stak to your number — from this business and from any other that uses Wax Stak. Emails keep coming.
- Reply START to get texts again.
- Reply HELP and your carrier answers with its help message.
Good to know
- Emails and texts arrive in the language on file for you — English or Spanish. See Your account details and language.
- Emails come from noreply@waxstak.com with the business’s name in the subject and at the top, unless the business set up its own sender name. A reply may not reach the business: use the phone or email in the portal’s footer — see Contact your detailer.
- A business may also send offers by email. Those end with an Unsubscribe link; see Unsubscribe from marketing emails.
- There is no settings page in the portal for messages. Texts are controlled by STOP and START, review emails by their Opt out link, offers by Unsubscribe. Everything else — confirmations, receipts, invoices — is part of the service and keeps coming.
