Customer detail: history and contact
By the end of this article you’ll know how to open a customer’s page from your phone, reach them in one tap, and read what your company has done for them and what they still owe — standing in their driveway, with or without signal.
Open a customer
- From Find, tap a row in Customers — or a row in Vehicles, which opens the vehicle’s owner.
- From a job, tap the customer’s name at the top of its details.
The back arrow returns you to where you came from.
Contact details
The top card is who they are: the name, then their phone number, email and address as your company has them on file. The phone number has two buttons beside it, Call and Text, which hand the number to your phone’s own dialer or messages app.
To fix a wrong number or email, tap the pencil in the top corner — Edit customer. The form that opens is the same one used to add a customer, minus the address; change what’s wrong and tap Save Customer. The edit is saved on the phone at once and sent on the next sync. If the pencil isn’t there, your role can’t edit customers.
An address is changed from the office, not from the phone.
Vehicles
Vehicles lists every vehicle on file for this customer, by year, make and model, with the plate underneath. A vehicle added by VIN and not yet decoded shows its plate or the code instead. No vehicles on file. means exactly that.
To add or correct a vehicle, open one of the customer’s jobs and use its Vehicle card — see Add or edit a vehicle.
Activity
Activity is the customer’s history, newest first, with three kinds of rows:
- Job — the number, the date, the status and the total. Your own jobs open with a tap. A job done by another technician is marked Read-only: you can see it happened and what it cost, but it doesn’t open.
- Invoice — the number, the date and the total, and whether it’s settled: Paid with the date, or Not paid. An invoice tied to a job opens with a tap, whichever technician did the work — this is how you collect on a visit from last month while you’re on today’s.
- Payment or Refund — the amount, when it was taken, the card, and which invoice it settled.
What the phone can’t show
Your phone holds every customer, but only recent work. The line under the list says so: This device holds recent activity only — older work may not appear here. An empty Activity means the phone holds nothing recent for this customer, not that they’ve never been served — the office has the full history.
If the page says This customer isn’t on this device., the customer exists but hasn’t reached your phone yet — usually one the office added moments ago. Sync and open them again.
Good to know
- A customer you added from the field carries a Saved on this device, not yet sent. badge until the next sync. Everything on the page still works.
- The page reads only what’s on the phone, so it opens in a basement or a parking garage the same as anywhere else.
- Once a sync lands, the page refreshes itself — a payment the office just recorded appears without reopening.
- There’s no delete here, on purpose. Removing a customer has consequences to review, and that’s done in the office.
