Notifications on your phone
By the end of this article you know what the app will tap you on the shoulder about, where to find the list when you missed the banner, and how to clear it.
What you get notified about
Notifications are about you and your day, not about the business as a whole:
- You were put on a job — someone in the office assigned you, or moved a job onto your schedule. The message names the job and the date.
- A new booking needs a technician — a customer booked online and nobody is assigned yet. Anyone who can edit jobs gets this one; open it to claim the job if it is yours to take.
The list is the same one as the bell in the back office: whatever is addressed to you there reaches your phone, so an owner or manager working in the field also sees the office notices — billing, text-message allowances, review trends — that a technician never receives.
Where the list is
Two doors to the same list:
- The bell at the top of the Work tab. The number on it is how many are unread; it disappears at zero.
- You → Notifications. The row under it says Nothing new or how many are unread.
The list shows the newest first, with unread ones in bold. It is on the phone, so it opens with no signal, and the list stays in step with the bell in the back office: read something on the web and it is read here after the next sync, and the other way round.
Read one, or all
- Tap a notification. It is marked read and, if it points somewhere, the app takes you there — the job you were put on, or the list of unassigned jobs waiting for a technician.
- A notification with nowhere to go just turns from bold to normal.
- To clear the lot, tap Mark all read at the top of the list. The button is only there while something is unread.
When everything is read the list says You’re all caught up.
Banners on the phone
If you allowed notifications when the app asked, each new notification also shows as a banner on your phone — on the lock screen, or at the top while you are in another app. Tapping the banner opens the same place tapping the row would. Banners are a shortcut into the list, not a second list: nothing exists only as a banner.
The first download after installing the app raises no banners, however many notifications you already had — you would not want fifty at once.

Good to know
- A banner can arrive a moment before the phone has the details. Tapping it then lands on the list, and the row fills in as soon as the sync completes.
- Notifications older than about three months drop off the phone; the office keeps its own history.
