Follow technician progress during the day
By the end of this article you will be able to see, in one screen, how every technician’s day is going and spot who needs a call.
Where it is
Work → Tech Progress opens Tech Progress — Today: one card per technician who has a route today. The page refreshes itself every 30 seconds while Auto-refresh is on; Last updated shows when. Switch Auto-refresh off to freeze the board while you read it.
If nobody has jobs today the page says No technician routes for today.
Read a card
Each card shows:
- The technician’s name and a status chip: On track, Slightly behind or Behind.
- Jobs — how many are done out of the day’s total, for example 3 of 5, with a progress bar.
- Current job — the customer the technician is at or driving to, with the stop’s status (En route, Arrived, In progress) and Since the time it started. When everything is done the card says All jobs complete for today.
- Last completed — when the previous job finished, or No jobs completed yet. early in the day.
- View Route — opens that technician’s route for today on the Routes page, map and all.
What the colours mean
The signal is about starting on time, measured against the planned arrival at each stop:
| Chip | Meaning |
|---|---|
| On track | Every job so far started within 15 minutes of plan. |
| Slightly behind | A job started 15 minutes or more late — or should have started by now and has not. |
| Behind | The same, at 30 minutes or more. |
A job that started on time but is running long does not by itself turn the card yellow; the lateness shows when the next stop starts late.
Use Filter at the top to show only On track, Slightly behind or Behind cards; All shows everyone.
Where the information comes from
Nothing here is typed in the office. The statuses come from the mobile app as the technician goes through the day — on the way, arrived, started, completed — so a card is only as current as the technician’s phone. A technician who does the work but never taps through it will look behind all day.
Good to know
- The board is today only. For another day’s route, use Routes and pick the date.
- The customer is told when the technician is on the way and when the job is complete, if those texts are on under Settings → Company → Automated Customer Messages — see Job statuses, and what moves a job between them.
- Cards are ordered by technician name.
