Switch between businesses

By the end of this article you will know how to get to the right business when your email belongs to more than one, and what the “workspace” pages mean when you land in the wrong place.

One sign-in, one address per business

Your sign-in — email and password, passkey, Google or Apple — is yours. A business adds it to its team by inviting your email, and one email can be on several teams: a detailer who also does the books for a friend’s shop, a manager who works for two locations run as separate businesses.

Each business has its own address, the-business.office.waxstak.com, and that address decides which business you are working in. There is no switcher inside the app: to move to another business, open its address. Bookmark each one.

Your role can differ from one business to the next — you may be an admin in one and a technician in another. What you see in the menu follows the role in the business you have open.

Signed in, but in the wrong place

Because the sign-in is shared, you can arrive somewhere you have no team membership. The back office then shows one of a few pages instead of the dashboard:

  • Go to your workspace — you are signed in and belong to more than one business, but not this one. Click Go to the business you want. If you belong to exactly one, you are sent there without asking.
  • Workspace unavailable — this address does not exist, or your account is not on its team. Click Sign in again and check the address, or ask the owner to invite you.
  • Signed in to a different workspace — your session was opened at one business’s address and you have opened another. Click Sign in again here; your session is tied to the address you signed in at.
  • Workspace paused — nobody has signed in to this business for a long time, so it was paused. Nothing was deleted. Click Reactivate workspace; a confirmation link goes to your email, and the business is back once you open it.

Good to know

  • The business’s own address is in the invitation and welcome emails. Opening office.waxstak.com without a business name also works: sign in, and you are sent to your business or asked to choose.
  • Two-factor authentication is set once for your sign-in and protects it at every business. Whether a business requires it is that business’s own setting.
  • Your avatar, profile details and pay type belong to each business separately — they are part of that team’s record of you.
